Abstrak

Based on the results of the research, the role of the Police in the theft of motor vehicles in Medan is to conduct investigations and take action on public reports about motor vehicle theft, with details of the main tasks as follows: as law enforcers, as protectors and as community guides. The factors that cause the theft of motor vehicles in the city of Medan are due to economic, socio-cultural, and environmental factors. These factors interact and influence each other. The obstacles faced by the Medan Police in tackling the crime of motor vehicle theft with violence are: a. The community is not responsive in reporting 1X24 hours or does not immediately report to the local police, so that motorized vehicles are out of reach. b. The goods resulting from crime or stolen goods are sometimes not sold in full but are sold in parts.
